Isaac William Powell Lamison, 18, of Emigsville, has been charged with burglary, criminal mischief, and possession of marijuana after breaking into the Tobacco Hut on 1400 Manheim Pike in Lancaster,  according to Manheim Township Police.

Officers were dispatched to the Tobacco Hut on Thursday, Nov. 7, after a witness inside the building reported hearing loud banging and scraping sounds. Upon investigation, police found a smashed cinder block near the door, a broken door handle, and a propped-open back door. Additionally, a hole had been broken through the fiberglass ceiling, police explained.

The witness told officers they activated an audible alarm and watched the suspect flee the scene in a red Chevrolet Malibu. Officers located security footage confirming the vehicle's make and model. A search for additional surveillance led to Lyndon Diner, where an employee provided police with a wallet left behind by a customer. The identification inside matched the suspect seen on the surveillance footage—Isaac Lamison.

While officers were investigating, a red Chevrolet Malibu drove past the crime scene. Police located the vehicle and identified Lamison as the driver. Inside the car, a vape pen containing THC was found in plain view, police said.

During questioning, Lamison allegedly admitted to smashing the Tobacco Hut's door handle with a cinder block, breaking a hole in the ceiling, and entering the building with the intent to steal merchandise he planned to sell.

Lamison was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David P. Monson and committed to Lancaster County Prison on $15,000 bail. A criminal complaint was filed the same day.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for a later date.
